I have a hate - love relationship with this movie - story. This is because I hate it so much when people have such great opportunities and are very gifted yet are throwing it away with alcohol - drug abuse and other misguided decisions. Beth's character is just that, she didn't have that proper guidance in her life as an orphan and then adopted yet becoming quasi another orphan for the second time, and her loser adoptive father who rejects her. The great thing is that her friends really come through for her, even against her own liking. They helped her. That is what real friends do, they tell you the truth even if it hurts. I stuck it out. In the end, the story drastically changes for the much better, Beth making all the right moves and choices.
