I loved the original version with Tom Hanks and crew, so I was very hesitant to watch this. But I decided, what can it hurt, if it sucks, then I'll just stop watching. Well it didn't suck and I absolutely loved it. And to be honest, I'm glad they did it differently from the original. This was done in a more "modern" approach that only today's audience would appreciate.
I've read some reviews regarding how "slow" it was at first, and I totally get the whole character building thing. But I didn't feel that way, I thought it was entertaining from beginning to end. I fell in love with all the characters and the actors who played them. I especially loved Beverly (Dale Dickey). She was a much better chaperone than the original 90’s version. She actually connected with the girls and in the end, you end up loving her. And I loved the two-story scenes they did with Max (Chanté Adams) and the team’s struggles- both underdogs and struggling the dark days of racism and sexual ignorance. The connection Max and Carson (Abbi Jacobson) had was a plus. They brought out the two different worlds beautifully, which to me, made the series even more interesting.
I loved this series and hope it continues on to many more seasons. I’d love to see Greta’s (D’Arcy Carden - who I loved in the movie “Ride The Eagle”), her life in NY, and secretly hoping that her and Carson get back together - I say secretly cause I don't want it to be a cliché, but come on, these two are meant for each other!
