There really isn’t a clear person to root for due to having 99% of everyone in the cast be unlikable. This film comes in as the 9th installment of the franchise but ranks as one of the worst. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, not to be confused with the three other similarly named films, pits millennial woke liberals against Leatherface…who should be in his 70s by now. But we learned the real monster is young people turning into something they hate, aggressive landlords. On a positive note, the gore and practical effects are great even if we don’t get much chainsaw action until the third act. Gore and almost all throat cutting kills don’t make up for a flimsy plot. And this film is a large nail in the coffin for the legacy horror reboot/remake trend, that started with 2018’s Halloween.
