Out of four stars, I'd give this one. Maybe a half. It's a cool, hip, trendy movie of the mid 1970s when moviemakers thought they had to put sophomoric sex in, when homely women were enshrined as beautiful, when dysfunctional families were seen as comical.
Art Carney is an ok actor but by no means charming or someone you like. He's not a Walter Matthau or a George Burns.
You really don't care about anyone in this disjointed film; it's just a bunch of stops on a cross-country trek by an old man and his old cat. Other than the almost-touching dance with the senile old girlfriend in the nursing home, there is really nothing -- nothing -- redeeming about this forgettable movie.
