To all those saying it is wrong to ban these books, think of our future generations. The racism in these books, even though may not seem racist, is unconscious. A young child will have a stereotype of a "Chinese boy with chopsticks" in the back of their mind. There is no direct show of cultural appreciation in the books, and as a society we CAN do better and cannot expect that racism will go away if do not hold small things like this accountable. What will tell people that they can't be any more racist? Where do we draw the line? As a person of colour, I am glad we are taking a step in the right direction. And don't worry, Dr. Seuss will always be a classic.
