What an absolute disappointment. A waste of my life watching this today. That being said though I’m glad I did because I had to see how it all ended. Michael isn’t even the main killer in this film, it’s centred around Corey, a guy who’s got a bad name for accidentally killing a child when babysitting in the past and gets bullied. Not enough motive for him to suddenly turn into a psychopath, it wasn’t believable. Allyson (Laurie Strode’s granddaughter). decides she likes him and this in turn make her character become very annoying. She is completely blind to the fact that his personality suddenly changes when he starts murdering people, influenced by Michael who lives in the sewers or something (!?)
Silly storyline which ends in Laurie inevitability coming face to face with Michael and he gets what’s coming to him finally. I didn’t like how Michael’s mask was removed because that has been his power through all the films, he was scary because of his mask in my opinion. Seeing him as just a man kind of made him seem pathetic.
To be honest the whole storyline as of Halloween (2018) has been disappointing to me. Halloween (2018) followed on directly from the very first Halloween in 1978, disregarding the storyline of any of the movies that happened in between. So the reality is that Laurie Strode was a teenager who got attacked ONE night by Michael Myers, who then was put in a psychiatric unit for 40 years. Yet for some reason she is completely obsessed with him, as is the whole town, and has been planning for his return that whole time, convinced he is coming for her. He attacked her once!? She always acts like she has a huge connection to him and knows him so well (which would make sense if you look back at the movies where she is his sister but that plot was rewritten and she isn’t). It just seems ridiculous when you think about it. The original movies were classic and sadly I think it lost its way.
