I tried to give this movie the benefit of the doubt but it’s god awful. Truly the worst 90 minutes of my life. More than that actually, I attempted to watch this movie 4 times before I could make it past the first 15 minutes. The acting and stunts were clear indicators for the low budget they were working with. One scene in particular that haunts me is in the very beginning, when the child actor Mulan falls off the roof. She was stiff and awkward it was so obvious she was in some sort of harness. I’m in absolute disbelief that they looked at that shot and said “ah yes perfect, no more takes. this is it. This is the money shot.” Overall what this movie is completely lacking is any sort of talent. I’m missing the music, I’m missing the sexy Shang. Try harder Disney. Decisions were made not to offend the Chinese culture, this movie ended up being a flat out disgrace to the Chinese culture.
