I think it is a beautiful book which is very evocative of the countryside of the Welsh/English borders. She writes sparingly but is able to convey in a few sentences a view of the countryside or the essence of a relationship. Gillian, the young woman who is at the centre of the book, is a poet, as was her deceased father, and the book seems to be suffused with the essence of poetry. I have recommended it to my bookgroup and am enjoying reading it for a third time.
