My father lived in an iron lung. He was a phenomenal parent and person. He painted beautiful pictures with his mouth, taught us how to cook by reading recipes to us. He never yelled or complained. Everyday was a gift. Being raised by such a mindful and loving parent made me the compassionate and understanding person that I am today. I have yet to read Paul’s book, it will be an emotional process that I will savor for another time. I’m incredibly grateful for Paul reaching out to the wider world outside his iron lung. We can all learn and benefit from his story of never giving up and staying in the moment. It’s all we have.
