I genuinely have no idea how critics are missing the sweet spot this film delivers--it marries the hope of space exploration with the end of Earth as we know it, a difficult concept because we usually get one or the other. It was a vivid depiction of what deeply flawed humans prioritize at the end of all things, the wrongs they wish to right, and the past they can't let go of.
