I went to get a slice of history, and got it in full measure. Vicky Kaushal has worked hard for this portrayal, and it was awe inspiring. I recognised Ajay Devgan's voice trying to give an introduction sort of thing in the opening few seconds, but I really missed a good background narration ( Lagaan style) throughout, as characters sprung from all over. When an Akbar appeared from nowhere, I was forced to pull out my phone and google this new Akbar who came from Aurangzeb!(at the wrong place in the genealogy of the Mughals.) Akshay Khanna has played a cruel Aurangzeb, and quite convincingly so. The battle scenes of bloodshed and gore were a little too much, and got boring because of it's predictability. It was a Vicky Kaushal fest. He came from the trees, from the earth, from the river, from the fields... 😁and then there was a VFX lion too. Hold on, national awards are coming....

Brilliant acting and portrayal of Mrs Indira Gandhi by Kangana Ranaut. Please do not get on the pro or anti bandwagon, just watch the movie for art sake. It's a well done chronicle of the build up to Emergency and later... again a point of view but isn't every historical chronicle someone's point of view? A must watch for a great portrayal of all the historic moments, of India in a nutshell.
