I went to get a slice of history, and got it in full measure. Vicky Kaushal has worked hard for this portrayal, and it was awe inspiring.
I recognised Ajay Devgan's voice trying to give an introduction sort of thing in the opening few seconds, but I really missed a good background narration ( Lagaan style) throughout, as characters sprung from all over. When an Akbar appeared from nowhere, I was forced to pull out my phone and google this new Akbar who came from Aurangzeb!(at the wrong place in the genealogy of the Mughals.)
Akshay Khanna has played a cruel Aurangzeb, and quite convincingly so. The battle scenes of bloodshed and gore were a little too much, and got boring because of it's predictability.
It was a Vicky Kaushal fest. He came from the trees, from the earth, from the river, from the fields... 😁and then there was a VFX lion too. Hold on, national awards are coming....
