Genuinely fantastic!! So rare to find a movie dealing with forced disappearances under a military dictatorship that isn’t awash with violence which ultimately undermines the criticisms those films are trying to make. This movie is character driven and amazingly acted - you can see and feel the emotions and tragedy in each of the lives depicted. Perhaps it could’ve have been a little shorter but this in no way takes away from the overall quality of the film. My girlfriend is Brazilian, and says the English subtitles have been slightly simplified, which is normally something I’d criticise but after a few minutes you don’t even feel like you’re reading anymore and would argue the people behind them did a great job in this department. You don’t need to know anything about the military dictatorship, a lot is explained and the rest can be inferred from scene to scene. Overall, I’d recommend this movie to anyone who likes good movies.
