Lingua tONICA

Remake of a 1930 movie based on the same book, both anti-war and both Americans. It is about German youth but not only Germany. It is against all ideology supporting war making and the ideals of the hero, fatherland and so on. All is noble and sounds great until reality and loss of young lives wake the non fanatics up. It should be showed in every American school, you know why.

Ceci n'est pas un negre, Magritte would have titled this film in case he was a filmmaker and not a painter. I think about Magritte because this film is as surreal as a film can be. I'm using the N word only because back then was not offensive as today. The film is produced in 1993 but it looks like 4 decades older and that helps. The core of the movie is about not knowing who you are and being told who you are, deep down to the color of your skin. It's like when kids of different races are in the same playground without noticing the difference, until someone else does it for them. But that is a digression, or may be not. Definitely a must see, if you are a fan of real movie making.One more warning: for grown-up with a sophisticated taste only.

Good movies are based on clever script and good acting. Among other things. Here there is lack of the two ingredients. Director's fault , maybe, but Mr Philippe has never been shining even when well directed. He's not cool, nor hot(for someone he was, once), lukewarm comes to mind in this case. In the case of poor not original script the care for details is important and here there is none.Save time, watch something else unless you like action movies and grunting men without clever and cinematic side dishes.

Never liked this sort of movie. If cinema maklng goes on this path any family will begin filming their own saga because every family has a story to tell. A story that might be meaningful to them but it does not offer anything to others, or better, to me. And today's family will not lack video and photo material to stitch together for the joy of the peepers among us. No ,thanks.

Do androids dream of electric sheep? seems to be still a fascinating matter since the times of P.K. Van Dick, one of the founding fathers of the sci-fiction.I call this movie genre psci-fiction, or better psi to avoid the red underline of the omniscient spelling engine. It is the kind of movie seekers of action and special fx hate deep in their guts but lovers of Tarkowski's Solaris will appreciate.Soundscapes and tasteful use of colors help the spaceship confined plot of a romance between an Android, in this case not a smartphone, and a human.

Even with only one drop at a time, the bucket becomes full and water cannot be contained as everybody would love to. Nice movie, not enjoyable if your couple is going through bad.....waters.
