I've watched this film probably five times and plan to watch it again. It is a sumptuous feast for eye and ear. In 1967 all of the major performers were at what I would consider their peak, and the photography was breathtaking. The script wastes no time in carrying the viewer from event to event while allowing the event itself all the attention to detail necessary for the viewer to become completely engrossed. Richard Harris is perfection, and he is well matched with Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero. David Hemmings is malice personified. I will view again just to see Franco Nero's blue, blue eyes!
