The main English lead, is so badly miscast and such a terrible actor, that he ruins the fine and nuanced acting of the others. Also he has his mouth open all the time making him look a half wit. Which he wasn't by a long shot in the book. Also the dialogues for him are so 21st century with curse words that jar being so out of context. A superb novel ruined by the power of one man!
