This may just be one of the poorest book to screen adaptations. To be clear, labeling One Hundred Years of Solitude as a book is reductive in that it is much much more. It is a literary journey of magic, love, surreal storytelling, a story that reads as one long lyrical poem woven throughout with dreamy imagery elevating the every day affairs of a village and the Buendia family, to something epic. The show sadly, is just that, a show. It doesn't transport you to Macondo and overall lacks the intensity and ethereal nature of the book. If you have never read the book, please do yourself a favor and skip this poorly made drivel. If you have read and love the book, please do yourself a favor and skip this poorly made drivel. Does not do justice to one of the greatest literary achievements in modern times.
