The beginning of the game can be quite difficult, as the game throws every mechanic at you in a furious blaze of glory. However, after the beginning, the game becomes a true masterpiece. It is the largest game of its caliber on the NES, and is double the size of the next biggest game of its class. The game is filled with side quests, bosses, and a large, glorious open world which make it a definitive hidden gem on the NES.
