I fell in love with Shirley Jackson's novel!
I found it mesmirising!
Merri-Cat is a name that has stayed in my mind, ever since.
It is a novel about judgement, and fear, that always go hand in hand, from my own perspective.
I found it fascinating, the way it played out, it kept me always questioning, even to the conclusion, where the theme question, had been answered.
Shirley Jackson, creates an equally elegant and crude, world, with fascinating characters, that she draws you into, to fall in love with. So that by the time, she answers your question, you are so full of adoration, it becomes irrelevant. You are both satisfied, with the answers, yet questioning how it came to that, to begin.
For those who feel different, I think this is much to do with, attitude of life, and experience.
If you tend to judge others harshly, if you have never experienced deep suffering, anxiety and judgement yourself. These things can hold you back.
If you understand, that we all are merely human, and become trapped by circumstance, you ought to enjoy the experience, of this book.
