Bayonetta 3 gives you the Bayonetta over the top action anyone who played the first 2 has come to enjoy. The environments are even larger with plenty to explore, still with risk = reward mentality & caters to destructive natures by being able to demolish a building near entirely. Beautiful graphics for the environments, Bayonetta, her outfits, demons & transformations which really pop during the Sin battles. It is a collectathon that will also clutter the game selection screen which is a nice touch. Bayonetta’s different outfits come with a wide range of color variations, but maybe I might not have played well enough, there are no Nintendo outfits like 1 & 2 & I loved those. Now the story isn’t much but is no different from any of the stories from 1 & 2. Viola is just Nero/Virgil from DMC without a doubt & far more annoying than she should be with her “ ow the edge” but unless you master her parry she is an aggravating character to use. They changes the chain attacks for a combo counter so just using jpop Bayonetta’s yo yos & Akibahara Phantasmirane will carry you through the whole game.
What you need to do is adjust the camera view before you start the game because the default makes it harder to fight in.
It was fun to find all the…ugh, multiverse, (I hate that term so much) Enzos, which can be easy to miss, but I wish they did the same for Rodin. Jeanne’s Spy Game was an awesome nod to the Elevator Action games especially Elevator Action Returns & just fun to replay as a mini game. For some reason the controls for this game made the witch trials even harder to play than in the other two games but the weapons & upgrades dont make a difference here.
The main problem I find with most reviews is either this is the first Bayonetta they played after watching lets plays of the first 2 or they missed a major key point in the first 2 entries, *Spoiler* it ends like how we were told it was to end since the first game. Enzo tells you in the first game, Rodin says it in the second game, we watch it happened to Rosa, it happens to Jeanne, it is part of the screen when you are low on health or get defeated. Bayonetta, like all Umbran Witches, gets dragged to hell when she dies. Since this is the final game it is only fitting that this would be the ending. The twist really just benefits the fan base & clears up a few debates about Bayonetta’s sexual preferences. Naïve Angel mode is a good idea for the overly sensitive but really changes little. Bayonetta dances a lot more in this but I appreciate the dedication to keeping that as realistic as possible.
In summary, fun to play except Viola, looks beautiful, ends like it is supposed to since the first game, play this to end the series but Bayonetta 2 is still the better game.
