This film is unforgivable. They probably thought it might be an Oscar contender because of the different role for Sandra Bullock. But her performance lacked verve throughout. What was especially frustrating to me was that the movie was completely ruined for me by one scene. The “bad guy” wanted to kill Sandra’s sister because he thought that she had killed his policeman father 20 years before. The bad guy kidnapped a girl he thought was her sister to shoot in front of Sandra. But he got the wrong girl, not Sandra’s sister. But when Sandra saw who he was about to kill, she never said what every other person would have said: “Don’t kill that girl. She’s not my sister!” Why didn’t she? She had met the girl earlier and knew who she was. For phoney suspense. Bad film making. Unforgivable.
