I liked the movie for the most part, especially the crime and investigative aspects and the family secrets elements. But for me what turned me off was the child abuse plot which really conveys a horrible message to abused children. It's never explicitly explained if the abuser is held to account for their crimes, but the plot strongly suggests they were not. The child is eventually protected but the abuser's (who in my opinion is as evil as the killer) crimes are covered up to protect the family honor? Disgusting.
