I saw the show where a young emu was released from rehabilitation hospital to a group of adult emus, without any transition period. The adult emus immediately went after the little one, kicking him. They might have killed the little emu, which was eventually separated from the adult emus by the Irwins. I thought it was totally irresponsible to place the young emu in danger like that. Perhaps it was done for media attention which would be even more irresponsible. The whole show seems staged and unreal, a desperate attempt to capitalize on the crocodile hunter's legacy. Brindi seems much more groomed for modelling than work with wild animals. The Irwin kids are really nice kids but not especially knowledgable, interesting, or talented with regards to animals. There are ample reminders during the show of Steve and how he would have wanted the kids to carry on his work. I hope they are not feeling pressured into 'carrying out Steve's legacy' and are able to chose their own path in life.
