If I could rate this book lower, I would. It was such an excruciatingly slow and drawn out start. I had to force myself to choke on each word in order to move on to the next. The plot is muddy, the character development is confusing, and the unnecessary onslaught of “background information” given does nothing to enhance the plot. The buildup was ridiculous compared to the climax (nonexistent), the “thrill” that was talked about was because the storyline teetered from bad to worse, and I’m embarrassed that a Black woman wrote this. I’m sure it was as a farce; at least I hope it was. No way this is considered a good book by any stretch of the imagination, and I need reimbursed for the time I spent gagging my way through it.
