Fine acting performances held my interest throughout & Benedict Cumberbatch's American accent was convincing! It didn't stray into gratuitous violence as I feared it might but the chilling essence of being lost in an unforgiving torture regime was Kafkaesque. The division between the military & the civilian world was marked, with certain facts being withheld or disclosed according to the whim of those in power. There was something unreal about the whole film but perhaps that is because a place like Guantanamo with its Western fast food burger joint & smiley clown jars when juxtaposed with the horrific torture ghetto that is Gitmo!
