This book even though it was about the woman nurses involved in the Vietnamese war it definitely hit home for me.
I didn’t serve in Vietnam but I served in a different war Called the Cold War.
I lost friends in the war.
I was waiting for my parents to pick me up at JFK after tech school. I was spit at and called a baby killer.
I was on a one month leave before rotating over seas to England. I couldn’t wear my military uniform when traveling with the fear of becoming the target of a protest.
My parents and friends that weren’t in the military didn’t fully understand what the Cold War meant.
So this story definitely hit home and I really enjoyed reading it. Like many of the books that Kristin Hanna has written have taken me on a roller coaster of emotions.
