For a 6 episode season it's a SLIGHT slow burn, especially for people who aren't coming from the Letterkenny universe. I'm sure this is especially the case for hockey fans who were expecting hockey.
But hang in there and you're rewarded with amazing content from ep 3 onward, imo. I'm not sure why Keeso wanted to do so much backstory setting for 2 whole episodes but it kinda rubbed me the wrong way especially with the writing teams style. That style really only works well broken up. To have nearly 2 whole episodes of jump cut dialogue reaching for joke counts was probably not the best strategy for opening a new show.
It's to such an extent I could nearly tell people to start at episode 3 and then watch 1 and 2 back after to add some context. But my god does the show come in to its own from 3 to 6. Once again, a hockey show/movie that was supposed to be about cheap laughs turns in to a heart breaking tear jerker with emotion and culture and purpose built into it.
And I always applaud sports shows/movies that 'end' (season end of course) with a game like that. That's how it should be done. I can buy into that so much better. Obviously I can't spoil it in a review but I just wanna applaud Keeso on going that route and keeping it real(istic).
