A Little Life? More like A Lot of Misery. This book started off strong & I was eager to read of JB, Malcom, Jude, & Willem’s journeys; however, at some point, Malcom is seemed to be forgotten & the struggles of (mainly) Jude & JB seep a sort of poison in the remaining pages. If this is the intention of the author, then she’s succeeded. But I can’t help but wonder why write a story with little to no emotional relief? Why convey such a gruesome message? Life is hard & it will only grow more traumatizing for characters who have done nothing to deserve such agony? I couldn’t understand why so many people raved of this book. I struggled to get through it. There was a lack of balance & a clear objective to hurt the reader. Take precaution when reading this story. It is a collection of trauma with seemingly no light at the end of the tunnel.
