I liked the first Wes Anderson movies, best among them "The Grand Budapest" and "Fantastic Mr. Fox". What was so great about them? Simple focused plot and few characters played by lesser known actors coupled with the iconic Wes Anderson set style and story telling.
What this movie is riddled with that takes away the charm?
Too many A-tier actors. I think Western Anderson is trending now in Hollywood, and his movies have become a "who is a big enough star to get into Wes Anderson movie" competition. I just found so many A-tier actors unappealing.
Too spread out a plot, so much so that each character is not fleshed out enough. It just became a series of SNL-sketches, again each time with a different A-tier actors.
Overall, I'd given it 8/10 if it had fresh new faces instead of A-tier actors and more focused story plot. Alas, 5/10.
