I like my movies as I like my chocolate... Dark & intense.
I came out of the Theater after watching Joker, and I went quiet. It’s running on my mind ever since.
Not every director can do justice to a Psychological drama.
This one needs you to feel each frame, each expression. So please keep your phone aside and dive into Joker’s mind.
After Jack Nickson & Heath Ledger‘s portrayal as the Joker, I had gone with low expectations from #JoaquinPhoenix . But he proved me wrong and how !
Joker is intense, dark & gritty... it will shock you, it will make you cringe and it will shake your soul!
You feel Arthur Fleck’s sadness building into rage and into madness... You see the people & the collapsed system through his eyes.
You find yourself screaming at the world around him... “don’t be so cruel to him... Just look at him... talk to him... Save him... he’s just sad...!!!!”
That’s the intensity created by director @toddphillips1 deliciously portrayed by #JoaquinPhoenix
I flinched at every act of violence by Joker... in the train, his mother, visitor at home, DeNiro.
But the real violence, was in the intense emotions... with him we also feel his loneliness, his misery, humiliations, hurt, vulnerability, & rage.
But once again, if intense psychological movies, aren’t your kind, then don’t go.
For me, this movie and performances are solid gold! Expecting it to be nominated in multiple categories at Oscars.
The direction, screenplay, cinematography, background score, Joaquin Phoenix’s performance... Standing ovation from me 👏👏👏
