I’m 14 and Although I cannot relate to this novel, it really touched me as I got a glimpse of what it’s really like for children who grow up without parent involvement. It discussed mature topics such as drug and alcohol use and how heart wrenching it is for those concepts to seep into a child’s mind so young. It demonstrates how people’s carers (grandparents in jarrett’s case) aren’t always the people who gave birth to them, showing that love is beautiful and comes from peoples overall morals, not blood relation. This novel inspires me completely to never judge people’s situations, and instead put myself in their shoes. I hope jarrett continues to produce more graphic novels like this.
