Sam Peebles

PT Anderson outdoes himself in this homage to Robert Altman and seeing PS Hoffman and Julianne together in one scene is like watching two heavyweights go toe to toe.

Best described as a Sci-Fi Western this is a great little film. The sets, costumes, cinematography and music are better than a $3 million dollar budget should allow. The acting is awesome with newcomer Sophie Thatcher holding her own against veteran scene stealer Pedro Pascal. While a crisp 90 minute run time doesnt allow for much character backstory, in this case its not a problem. Any one familiar with the Western genre will understand their motives and actions.

I'm not sure what the point of this movie was. Organized religion is bad-OK. People are often cruel and insane-I guess. I can think of about a hundred other films that do a better job with those themes. It's basically a Coen Brothers knock off without the good writing and acting. And that Narrator had me telling him to shut up several times. It's a film-show it don't say it.
