I’m horrified, but not surprised by the low reviews this movie has received. And I know why it received low reviews. Because you people are seeing it on surface level. There is meaning beyond the scene. “Why would they volunteer knowing they’d get shot and go under something horrible?? Why is it only young men??? it doesn’t make sense!!!” — it’s a draft. It’s symbolizing a draft. Why did young men sign up for wars knowing there was a high chance of them dying/not making it out?? Because they were promised a reward. The cash prize— the glory, and adoration of surviving and “winning”. I BEG OF YOU PEOPLE TO USE YOUR MEDIA LITERACY AND LOOK DEEPER!! We are going to need it. everyone needs to see this movie.
