I loved this movie. In particular the scene with the oil tanker grounding on the beach was impressive. I have read film analysis of this movie and there seems to be all kinds of theories. But I read it quite simply as a comment on the pandemic. It examined racial tensions between black and white people, the sense of anxiety surrounding the pandemic and the surfacing of issues that were building. I read the arrival of animals, deer and flamingos as simply that sense of animals coming out of hiding when all the humans were locked up in doors. I thought the Rose character was interesting. Talk about the cassandra complex, she knew where it was at. The most memorable quote had to be when talking about Friends the TV series, 'nostalgic about a time that never existed'. Agreed.
