Watching Thudarum prompts one to think "what constitutes a good film?" The hype that has been generated for this one - my goodness!!
Yes, the acting skills of Mohanlal and Shobhana comes through - no question about that, even though their online chemistry could have been explored more.
Hats off to Prakash Varma & Binu Pappu - the villainism emanates very well. Prakash Varma's acting skills, the venom that he spews through his mannerisms and words - all very very good!!
But apart from that, what is there left in the movie? Just because it is the "hero" who is smashing up the "villain", can we justify portraying violence in such a gore state? Is it needed?
Honour killing?? Sookshmadarshini is far far above this movie in portraying that theme. I don't know how Tarun Murthy could have done this movie...maybe he was deliberately going for a mass movie, but it does seem to fall flat.
Of course, this is not a "family" movie. The stories woven to frame Mohanlal, which includes the stark reference to a bad relation between the brother and sister....yes, it may reflect today's reality to an extent. But the movie to state it so explicitly when it is hyped as a family movie....it doesn't seem to be good.
You should ask your brain to waive logic for some time before sitting to watch the second half of the movie. An "ordinary" man lashing out at the police officers single-handedly - only happens in movies. Just trying to placate the Mohanlal fans out there and nothing else.
Went expecting a lot, came away disgusted by the unneeded violence.
No one wants to cut any scenes in this film? Maybe because Mohanlal
keeps on chanting "Muruka"???
