Medusa Entei

Instantly fell in love with First Kill, and very much want a second season! I'm glad to see other fans are rating it and sharing their opinions, because I don't think the critics are doing it justice. It's not another Twilight type show. There are definitely elements in it that I love that remind me of some things in Twilight, but they are different stories. It is truly a Romeo and Juliet storyline. I myself am a vampire nerd, so I'm not surprised I got hooked... but I got hooked for more that it just being about vampires. I love the lure/mythology they've created. I also really love both families' histories. It doesn't just focus on the angsty and forbidden teen romance. There's a lot to both families, and that added another great layer to the series. My favorite aspect though was that the vampire and her human love interest are the SAME AGE (part of the created mythology for this show: vampires can be born and age naturally). I also have to say I loved the soundtrack. Many of the songs were perfect for the moments they were chosen for. I especially love the opening theme and never skipped it while I binged the show. (I will say it gives me more of a Warm Bodies theme though, as it's about zombies, but I really loved that movie too...) While a lot of the cast is newish or lesser known, they really did have great chemistry with each other. Some of the relationship did seem rushed (not enough episodes to really flush it out), but I think the actresses did a great job making it seem authentic and feel real. It's clear they didn't have the budget for the CGI monsters, but that could easily be fixed if they continue. They did have some great locations and cinematography though! I hate that shows due less than 10 episodes as a "season" these days. I really miss when a season was at least 20 episodes. My only negative critique is that some things felt a little rushed, but I would blame that on only have 8 episodes to showcase this awesome show. IT NEEDS MUCH MORE!!! There's so much that they could do with this show! If Neflix doesn't pick it back up, I hope someone will. It's too good to just have 8 episodes. And if no one will pick it up, they could at least have the decency to do 1 or 2 more episodes to tie off the cliffhangers. If given the budget and attention it deserves, it could have many seasons. If you like Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Vampire Academy, or even shows like iZombie and Lost Girl, I think you'll like First Kill. It has many of the things I loved about these other shows too.
