I know the cast is British and there is no attempt to approach a French style of speaking (which probably was a wise choice), but the setting is Provence and gorgeous and the writing, casting, and acting are all the best on television! By the end of episode 2 I could barely believe that Mr. Allum played Thursday on Endeavor. In Muder in Provence he is so charming and smart and loving, any woman over the age of 40 would adore him. And his charming, smart, and equally loving costar, Nancy Carroll, is his perfect counter part. All of the other regulars in this terrific series add strong elements to the stories. That is all but the Chief of Police. His character is a buffoon who bikes around is colorful biking attire or shows up at formal events in a kilt. At the end of episode 3 we are supposed to accept that he is suddenly a competent police officer. Other than that one absurdity, this show is as good as it gets. The audience wants more. Please don't disappoint.
