Disclaimer: This book is for BEGINNERS in the world of personal finance.
I'm somebody who mostly depends on a male figure to teach me about how money works. More often than not, it is usually filled with their own biases based on their previous experiences and they tend to have fixed notions about what is the right way to secure and invest your money. I really just needed the basics without the biases to get started on my journey of personal finance.
And then comes to the rescue - "Make Epic Money". I honestly though I'd skim through the book and see if it had a lot of financial jargon that I never seem to understand even through YouTube videos.
Despite Ankur's controversial "Finfluencer" image I decided to get it - entirely because the language seemed easy and he had some letters written to himself in the end which I honestly found very amusing.
In this book, Ankur kind of summarises the essential pointers you'd come across in most popular finance books (he quotes them too just in case you were wondering).
He goes on to talk about the various ways you develop biases towards money through his personal little anecdotes. I appreciate the honesty with which he approached the first couple of chapters of the book. He then goes on to explain to us the various ways we must focus on generating, securing and growing money. The various options that we have and gives complete freedom to the reader in terms of doing our own research and attached excel sheet QR scans to confirm them within the book!
All in all, the book did what it intended to - educate me in my 20s to kickstart my financial journey. It has given me a base to further learn more about the intricacies of each option and has enabled me to understand a little bit of the jargon my male counterparts tend to use when explaining their portfolios.
Much love to the author and publication house for bringing something like this for us to read! Thank you.
