It’s a film adaption of a broadway musical and Disney did it amazingly. It ties 5 fairy tails together staying true to the roots of the actual stories. Cinderella and Rapunzel being very Grimm. Only issue I have with it is that I actually own the broadway script and there’s a few scenes/songs/lines etc that were changed. I understand why film wise but my brain hates it 🤷🏻‍♀️ This musical in the depths is about children. Having children, raising children. There are a lot of wishes, the main wish is to have a child. After the wishes come true they have to deal with the consequences of getting what they wanted. “Wishes come true, not free” “careful what you do and say, because children will listen and learn” I think people forget that most of these live action musicals are legit broadway musicals so they rate them horribly without understanding that it’s a stage show and sometimes stage shows don’t translate well to film. So yes Disney did an amazing job.
