Absolutely HATE how the movie attempts to portray Gertrude and Paula as downtrodden and so strung out they became abusers. No. Both women did HORRENDOUS things to a CHILD that tragically led to her death. It was difficult to get through the movie based on the focus being so much on trying to humanize those two monsters. The focus should be Sylvia. Not to mention both awful human beings got released on parole and got to live a life while they snuffed out Sylvia’s. They made Paula out to be like Stephanie, Sylvia’s friend. No, she actively participated in the abuse and is SMILING in her mug shot. Still got parole after escaping prison twice. I can go one forever. These people deserve to rot in HELL. No movie or story should ever sympathize and humanize these monsters.
