I was excited for this movie, it looked super cute, but turned out to be very disappointing. The first 2/3’s of this movie emphasizes that if you Don’t look the same, and are not groomed the same as some look ideal that was created for you, that it’s not ok. You’re just out of luck if you were created with something that makes you visibly different that you can’t correct with makeup or styling. If you make it to the end, they do reinforce that we are all perfectly imperfect and what matters is what’s inside. I just couldn’t believe the lack of actual diversity in any of the human looking dolls. Many shades of skin, but not really anything that actually represents the different characteristics that people are actually born with. I’m genuinely surprised that all of these major artists who’ve overcome adversity would agree with the negative theme that is overwhelmingly reinforced in the earlier portion of this movie.
