I moved in 1971 and was brought up on ‘the Wood’ (though on the edge on Fillingham Close near Marston Green Rd, went to school at Keepers Lodge, then briefly at Simon Digby before moving away.
I remember the skinheads, Zulus and catching the bus (number 37 I seem to remember) to see the riots!
Nobody round by us worked at Longbridge, they mainly worked at Land Rover Solihull or Castle Brom.
I remember nicking pop bottles just so we could return them again to Craig Croft shops.
I fell off a motorway bridge during construction (thankfully into deep mud which saved me but 50 years later still have the skate but it was a long walk away.
So much of the series resonated with me, yes the tower blocks were ‘wrong’ there was too many hills and undulations in the terrain and even the church was familiar as it was the ‘new’ one my family worshipped at, even though it was in bloody Aston (which was where we had moved from).
A good representation of the time, the fears, the depression, the bombings, the anger but also the hope - very well done!
