It was ok. Honestly I’m surprised so many people felt it was a “masterpiece”. I thought it was more Twilight meets the Da Vinci Code. I think I read someone even cataloguing it as a “historical fiction”. Really?! There’s no history here, just a girl turning up in a new place/time before rambling off in her own head and finding books…and cats named book. I’ll admit the idea was good. The concept itself was creative, but otherwise, I didn’t like at all how this veered into a romantic tryst with some immortal curly haired omnipotent yet mysteriously brooding shadow god. Uggghh. Would have been so much more interesting if this didn’t go all Daniel Steele.
