Coming into this book, I expected to be disappointed. I had a feeling this book was going to be grotesque or too much. It turned out the opposite. Reading The Great Gatsby is like watching a movie from the mid-1900s. They’re simple yet surprisingly entertaining and perfectly describe American problems. Fitzgerald is just a natural writer. My one complaint is that Fitzgerald portrays Catholics negatively in one scene. I’m not sure if that has to do with himself being that he was Catholic or maybe for a different reason. I believe it is important to recognize when a books content becomes questionable. Since it is only one little section though, I personally think it is just appropriate to skip it. (I’m no expert on this topic so only take this blurb with a grain of salt). Apart from that, this was a good book.
