Zero stars. What I initially thought was going to be a clever weaving-in of Poe’s characters and story lines into a fresh take on them turned out to be a ridiculous farce. The story line appeared written by gleefully spiteful children in order to make President Trump appear criminal. It isn’t even good writing, and the attempt to blend an insane family trait into Trump’s family is in poor taste. I love literature, especially Southern Gothic, of which Poe can be said to have initiated during the Romantic period. This tripe is pure trash. About halfway through the first episode, the story line starts to become predictable and boring. The far left’s inability to create original and clever television series out of past genius is on full display, unlike a fascinating take on the Roman invasion of Britain in “Britannia.” When you let political hatred rule your job, you ruin it for everyone. It’s not even good satire. The jealousy of the left for the rich for being rich seems to be the overriding theme. Thumbs down.
