I loved Challengers (2024), I will definitely watch it again, hopefully in IMAX next time. The movie had me wanting it to never end. I LOVED seeing Zendaya as the lead in a film and not only play an adult character but also a mom and it was very convincing. The ending gave viewers something we hoped we would see for Art’s sake, and they did deliver!
Art was a very interesting character as although he was looked at as a pushover and very straightforward character, he was seen guiding the directions of these three characters' lives. Art is someone who always found a way to get what he wanted out of life, of being with Tashi - married/ with a child, and ultimately winning against Patrick when it came to her. However, that did not exactly work out the way he hoped.
Tashi and Patrick were seen as mean/difficult characters when in reality they were just more openly expressive of their wants and goals. While Art would play the nice guy and the long game in getting what he wanted - HER. First by getting Patrick and Tashi to doubt each other which leads to the demise of their relationship and in comes Art, who planted the seed then comes to save the day. Tashi gets to coach him and live out her dreams through Art while he gets what he wants, a life with her and Patrick out of the way.
Tashi, although is thought of as the villain by many, went along with whatever Art wanted like getting married to ensure his happiness and continued journey in tennis. Tashi would work to hold back feelings that she always had for Patrick in order to put Art and his career first - would constantly walk around eggshells with him - and would often ask him what she could do to help him as she wanted him to get back some motivation for playing tennis.
