I give this show 3 stars because seasons 1-5 were absolutely amazing. The story left you needing to know what would happen next. No character was safe from dying, the atmosphere was amazing, the development was extraordinary. Season 6 took a little dip. The realistic factor started to shift, main characters started to be more like super heroes meaning you could pretty much tell who was safe and who wasn’t, the plots weren’t as strong and sensible but it was still exciting and there was still so much that needed to happen which was exciting. Season 7 started to make even less sense, plot holes started forming, the once slow, steady pace used for strong development was sped up 10 fold. The main characters became more untouchable. Plot grew weaker. Lots of stuff was crammed in a shorter season. Season 8...... truly for me made the show I once loved completely unwatchable. After the steady decline from 6 I was prepared to be disappointed but I wasn’t prepared to be THAT disappointed. Inconsistencies everywhere, character development out the window, way too fast paced, trying way too hard to “shock” the audience, plot armor for the main characters to an insane degree, wasted plot lines and the list goes on and on. What once had the potential to be the greatest show ever in my opinion came crashing down into a big, sad joke. No discredit to the actors or the music or to the design teams but it was very clear that the story writers were riding off of the greatness of the books that the show was based on. Once the show passed the point of where the books were it all went downhill.
