Overall good- if you haven't read the book. If you have read the book - this is serious damage! 1. Important characters like pinagapani and manimegalai missed. 2. Missed the revealing of who the real Madhurantakan - The old madhurantakan elopes and Senthan amudhan is the real Uthama cholan aka Madhurantakan - becomes the king as per kalki's novel. 3. The film lost essence by portraying nandhini taking revenge on Adhitya Karikalam without knowing Veera Pandiyan was her father. As per the Novel - she knows it and that's the base for her vengeance and revenge. She reveals it to Karikalan few moments before he is killed. 3. Periya Pazhuvetraiyer accepts he killed Adhitya in the court room and dies before crowning ceremony and there is no war between the Rashrakoota and Cholas before the crowning - the war happens later. Unnecessary war sequences and nandhini being chased away scenes should have been seriously reconsidered. Very disappointing. The film could have been made staring - "loosely based on Kalki's Ponniyin Selvan" and should have marketed differently. The younger generations might assume this is still the original PS by Kalki
