I really wanted to like this show, im a huge fan of the kind of media that most likey inspired it, and i was very excited when I saw the trailers, but after watching two episodes, I dont understand how they can make a show about chasing down alien artifacts that do bizarre and unfathomable things for reasons beyond the scope of human comprehension, so astoundingly dull and generic.
This show is no doubt inspired by the likes of works such as Roadside Picnic, Annihilation, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, and maybe even a bit of Warehouse 13 or The Lost Room or The Expanse, but this show somehow manages to embody all of their collective faults without any of their successes, originality or vision.
The editing is 90s era trash, the pacing alternates between dragging or feeling rushed, the music is monotonous, loud and ineffective, the formula is the laziest combination of a monster of the week and a procedural cop drama, the plot and characters are generic and uninteresting, the dialog is stiff and unnatural, the world building is essentially nonexistent, and the debris itself seems overly simplified and always tied to some kind of a hacky emotional arc for throw away characters that only exist for one episode.
In a complete inversion of everything that makes this particular subgenre great, the elements of the show intended to be mysterious and forboding end up boring and too easily digestible, while the human elements intended to ground the story and give it the emotional weight it needs to be engaging end up being bizzare and unrelatable and forced. If you like this sort of premise there are much better alternatives.
