Superb acting and action-packed sageuk! Empress Ki is my favorite but after watching Six Flying Dragons I changed my mind. Powerful performance from Kim Myung Min, Chun Ho Jin, Byun Yo Han, Jung Yumi, Yoon Kyun Sang and especially Yoo Ah In. They made Lee Bang Won/ King Taejong more understandable and also shows the nature of human. It is very realistic and I have learned so much in 50 episodes. One thing I think that is not necessary in the series and I don't really like is the scenes and character of Shin Se Kyung. Her role doesn't contribute much to the progress and development of the story. And their romance scenes with Yoo Ah In seems awkward. I feel more engaged and seen the chemistry in watching scenes of Yoo Ah In with Gong Seung Yon (Queen Wonkyung) even if their union in the series is for politics. Shin Se Kyung's character feels like doesn't really matter at all. I just hope the made her character stronger or had contributed something for Yoo Ah In's character development. I like Cheok Sa Gwang and Yeon Hee better. Shin Se Kyung's character doesn't really seem like significant, supporting actresses outshined her in performance, especially Jung Yumi and Han Ye Ri, and also the actress who played the grandma version of Boon Yi, I cried a lot in the scene she reminisced everything. But still, the show is the best of all the sageuk I have watched! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Yoo Ah In never disappoints the viewers, if it's him playing the main role, it will always be worth watching. ❤❤❤❤

I am definitely a asian historical drama freak! I have watched the most popular korean period drama such as Daejanggeum, Jumong, The Legend and Queen SeonDeok. Many historical drama have came but none of it had pleased me like those I have mentioned. Not until I watched Empress Ki! It was 2013 when I first saw this drama, I watched this online. Then finally rewatch on 2014 when it was aired here in Philippines. Lady Ki is really the baddest female lead I have ever seen. Queen SeonDeok also had a strong female lead, but she is not as hard and cunning as Lady Ki is. All I could say is it's superb. From the production, the costumes and the acting! My favorite villain here is the Empress Dowager Budashiri. She is like the older version of Lady Ki. Both of them are cunning, but Budashiri don't have so much guts as Lad Ki for she loves attacking people from behind. My favorite character among them aside from ofc, Queen Ha Jiwon, the character of Tal Tal. He is filial, and always mindful of everything. I am very frustrated that he never got the chance to tell Nyang how he really feels about her, he didn't told her yet his eyes really speaks to her whenever he looks at her. That was so frustrating for me. But it's also good, as he knows how tough the competition that Wang Yu and Ta Hwan had before Nyang finally decided to be with Ta Hwan, (spoiler alert) but the sure thing is if they don't have the same dream of Wang Yu, they might reallybl end together. But still Ta Hwan proved them that he is the one for Lady Ki. She really the most hated woman in the royal court, but they never got the chance to defeat her because she only cares for his husband and their son. I love the character development, Ta Hwan, from being cowards finally grew up because of Lady Ki, learning how to face his greatest fears in the occurrence. Ki Nyang who used to have hatred Ta Hwan, bloodlustic and hungry for revenge turned into a faithful and loving wife. Although the rest misinterprets their relationship as forced by emperor or Lady Ki only using Ta Hwan, it is clear that they represent the definition of love. Give and take. Although Wang Yoo hasn't changed at all, still the man that Lady Ki used to adore as her man that later on she sees her only as her hero. He still that unfortunate chatacter throughout the drama. Although this drama is fictionalized life of Empress Ki, as the history knows nothing about her life before she became an empress. We still can say that somehow the personality Lady Ki in the drama to real life is similar-- cunning, clever and talented. 2 empress have came, and Ta Hwan has many wives competing for his favor, but even in historical records you can say that he really loves Lady Ki, as it is true that he fought everyone who is against her of becoming his empress and the mother of nation. It is never easy to win someone's heart but Lady Ki had Emperor Ta Hwan's grace. Also the theme songs, try reading its translations you will be surely touched. 😭 Those are the reason why I cry a river in some scenes. I also like Scarlet Heart Ryeo, I love IU, but maybe if the female lead on that drama is a real actress, it would be much more appreciated. I like the story, but her acting seem to not matching the intensity of the male lead. Anyway, Empress Ki is one of the hit historical KDrama that must watch!

So far this is my favorite period chinese drama 💕 I am a historical drama freak. I like the female character, she's so clever, loyal and brave. She shows no fear and speak what's in her mind. Though the story has similarity with Dong Yi, where both female lead started as palace maid and loyal servants of the queen. But I like Wei Ying Lou more than Dong Yi character. At first I was hesitant to watch this because of the men's hairstyle on that era. 🤣 I don't mean to offend the culture, but it's just really cringey for me. But when I started to watch, I simply disregarded that thought because of Fuca Fuheng, he is really handsome wearing that costume. 😍 Lady Wei is both badass and kind. She really has the guts and don't just forgive everyone who wronged her and her love ones. Such a loyal servant to Empress Fuca Ruyin, a faithful wife to emperor later on. I love Wu Jiyan acting, she made hooked throughout the drama. She doesn't need so much facial expressions because her eyes speaks what she feels. I'm just frustrated at the part where she and Fuheng didn't end up together 😭 I also liked the antagonistic characters of the consorts, like Consort Gao, she is so classy yet cunning. And my favorite villain among them is Consort Xian who later on became the empress. She is really a wife material after Empress Fuca Ruyin. She wants nothing but the prosperity of her husband and the country, she is far from the rest of the consorts, which are all fighting for their ranks and the favor of the emperor. But circumstances changed this very soft hearted consort into villain. But as a woman, I could understand her desperations and the reasons that forced her into being schemeful against Consort Ling. Every woman in the palace longs for a man who will love them till the most. I also liked Consort Xian for being filial, and she is good with the empress and never thought of doing something againsts her. I really recommend this drama. Great character development! I have never got hooked like this after Empress Ki. I want to see Wu Jiyan more doing historical dramas. She is really perfect for doing those roles. 💕 Love lots from Philippines. 💓
