First and foremost I have not read the comics so am I in way eligible to compare the adaptation with the original work. Though, many comic readers have praised the adaptation. Invincible is an coming of age story of boy who's superpowers bloom late, even though his father is probably the strongest on Earth. To be honest, "Invincible" does nothing new purely from storytelling perspective. It just merges various plot elements we have seen time and gain from superhero franchises and media. Interestingly, the mixture has come out be perfect and added with all gore and blood, the final output is really impressive.
From the ending of first episode, the plot really starts and continues to build up and we are offered, episodes 7 and 8 which to be honest could have been made into a movie and worthy of cinematic experience.
Animation is strictly average and probably achilles' heel for anime watchers. Don't get me wrong, the animation is good for American "TV" standards like batman: the animated series but I also wonder what the result would have been if it was animated like a japanese anime. Occasional hiccups with 3D CGI also happen quite a few times. Nevertheless I adapted to the animation style quickly and appreciated the overall content.
With 8 episodes of around 40-45 min runtime, this series is an absolute easy watch. It's totally binge-worthy!
